At the age of 19, Nigerian-native now Oakland resident Iso began writing to what is now his “ ’16” mixtape. Being on the grind for 8 years, back in 2015 Iso released his first mixtape on DatPiff under the name “Mafeeiso” with tracks that he and his friends cooked up in a studio during high school.

Having the grand majority of the project written in 2016 just fresh out of prep school, Iso always had a love and affinity for music. Starting off his freshman year at college through basketball scholarships he reflected heavily that year as to what exactly he wanted out of life.

Fast forward to November 2021 Iso had taken his rhymes from the pages to the booth. On a trip to LA with a friend, the two spent the majority of the time in the studio, working, mixing, and cooking up the project. Once Iso reached 16 tracks the title and release date was serendipitous.

The project’s bones is built up on many productions from Stones Throw’s own Knxwledge, while also procuring sounds from Large Professor, Ras G, Madlib, Neek Rusher, Ty Fyffe, AmpLive, Mike Tiger. The project also houses two tracks from Iso’s friends from highschool producers: Delahussle and Na$teeza.

When discussing his next moves Iso mentioned pushing his tape out once released, starting his performance career and working together with his team to push their albums for the year.
